The Abroad Push Club named its winners, like two for enterprise journalism.
The Malcolm Forbes Award for most effective international business enterprise information reporting in newspapers, information products and services, publications or digital went to International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, The Washington Write-up, Miami Herald and almost 150 media partners for “The Pandora Papers.”
The judges wrote, “Another tour de force by the ICIJ, the Pandora Papers brought with each other journalists from dozens of news corporations to rummage by means of a treasure trove of a lot more than 11 million leaked documents showing how dollars and electric power work in the 21st century.”
The Morton Frank Award for ideal global company information reporting in Television, video clip, radio, audio or podcast went to Sandy Tolan, Euclides Cordero Nuel and Michael Montgomery of Reveal from the Center for Investigative Reporting, PRX and Mom Jones, with assistance from the Pulitzer Centre, for “The Bitter Perform Powering Sugar.”
The judges wrote, “This complete investigation by Sandy Tolan and Euclides Cordero Nuel took listeners deep into the sugar cane harvesting camps manned by Haitian immigrants in the Dominican Republic. The reporting, which has prompted scrutiny from Congress and the Division of Labor, documented personnel enduring $4 a day wages, staggering debt, substandard housing and woeful health care treatment although enhancing Central Romana Corp.’s profitability.”
